The company’s history begins in 1996. Peter Liegl purchased assets from Cobra Industries and used them to found Forest River. Their first products focused on tent campers, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and park models. They branched out into full motorhomes and, eventually, they entered the marine community with their pontoons.
Forest River eventually grew large enough to allow them to acquire other companies, including Starcraft Bus®, Glaval Bus®, and US Cargo. In 2005, Forest River became a part of Berkshire Hathaway, one of the largest holding companies in the world.
